Insects' Lives - Exodus

Not perceiving the sacred presence of nature
And not experiencing oneself
As interconnected with life
Is arguably
The greatest threat
Facing Earth today

INSECTS’ LIVES
STATEMENT

Our human cultures tend to view most insects as creepy, insensitive, bothersome irritants. While it is true we humans need to protect ourselves from the dangers of some insects, we may at times, go beyond what is necessary and compassionate. I am willing to consider that on some level, these little creatures, along with all the other non-human life forms, have more sensitivity than we realize.

The ceramic sculpture presented here suggests in a playful way, that all life forms are more similar to us than we know and all deserve compassion and respect.
