Growing up on a small midwest farm gave her a respect and love for all living things, both flowers and animals and being somewhat isolated during growing up she started at a very early age to draw and paint what see saw around her.
After leaving a career in the medical field, she ws able to explore the world of art trying oils and acrylics and finally discovering her favorite medium watercolor, totally loving the spontaneity of colors blending uniquely on the paper. The inability to completely control the paint is what is so fascinating and unique to the medium.
Jan has studied with numerous artists including Nita Engle, Tony Couch, Judy Wagner and Tom Fong.
Jan lives in Cambria and is a member of Allied Arts, M.B.A.A. Cayucos Art Association and San Luis Obispo Art Center participating in many Juried shows including Color of Autumn and Aquarius. She is a Signature Member of the Central Coast Watercolor Society.
