For me, making art is about exploration and experimentation. Exploration of ideas and locations. Experimentation with materials and processes. No crazy idea is too far out; whether it's incorporating my original photographs into a collage or weaving a collection of things into some old mattress springs. Sometimes I start with an image or a sketch. Sometimes I begin with a thought that leads to a poem and then a picture. All rely on a spirit of child-like freedom and the joy found in incorporating a happy mistake.

For this collection of work, "Random Thoughts," I was influenced by the location for the show and so decided to incorporate text and/or poetry into each piece, taking the words from a collection I have been writing for the past 10 years, which I am currently putting into book form. Some of the pieces, like "Listen" and "Long, Lovely Letters," have a serious note. Some, like "If you've forgotten how to play you might as well order your coffin" and "Sunset," woven into old mattress springs, are all about fun.

I rejoice in living in Cambria with my husband, Brian. I am inspired by the place where I live and work, and consider myself very fortunate to have landed here nine years ago. Each day brings new inspiration and I know that here, I am at home.
