With Needle and Thread

Every piece I sew tells a story. A man, a woman, a child, a fox, a string of thread, the flotsam and jetsam of everyday life. Sometimes it's a short story, a simple sketch or an outline, a moment in time, sometimes it's more of a novel, a thousand scraps sewn and cut and sewn together again. I like to think this thread I am sewing is one I have picked up from another sewist long ago, who sat and sewed her perfect Sampler or quilted her scraps into a warm covering for her loved ones. I am inspired by these women and by Japanese Boro textiles and the gorgeous Kantha stitching of India. I am inspired by cloth and thread.
