Artist Biography
I was born in Grayling, Michigan and spent the first 19 years in Westerville, Ohio. After High
School I wasn't serious about attending college so joined the Navy to get out of Ohio and gain
some depth. After four years in the Navy, I moved to California, got married, completed school
(San Francisco State College) and had 2 kids. Subsequently worked 7 years for Sacramento County
and 32 years for the California Department of Social Services. I retired in 2003 and my wife
and I moved from Sacramento to Cambria. Now I am doing what I've wanted to do since I was very
young (paint).

Artist Statement
My personal goal is to display as much of the full range of human behaviors and emotions as
possible and I am also interested in publicizing the worldwide rush to consume the earth's
resources, destroy the earth's living animals and vegetation and pollute the earth's seas and
atmosphere. There can be no perfect world but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
Although "the pen is mightier than the sword", a picture is still worth
a thousand words". Art outlives generations. Fine historical art appreciates in value and
what one paints today will soon be historical. In addition to the very popular use as
interior and exterior décor, 2d art continues to have many other current uses including but
not limited to:
supports the performing arts (scenery for the theatre, opera, ballet,
movies, television; etc)
influences consumer buying behavior(advertising in papers, magazines,
television billboards etc)
enables detailed views of technical characteristics, properties, object; etc
(maps, blueprints, schematics, cutaways, etc)
includes portraits and other popular images
provides for the cultural enrichment of a country and all its political subdivisions
(art galleries, museums, shows, auctions, etc)
is useful in court proceedings (displays, diagrams, charts, images, scenes, etc)
is used as images/symbols for websites, money, emblems, stamps, coins, and many
other forms of financial documents
is very useful tool for fashion, costume, interior, and landscape design
is used for greeting cards
is used to influence political and religious views and behavior
is used to entertain (cartoons, computer games, animated movies)
is useful to record significant events (historical ceremonies, festivals,
celebrations, proceedings, etc)
is used for accident analysis
is used as teaching aids (textbooks, manuals, pamphlets, etc)
